BabySafe is a mobile app designed to provide accurate and up-to-date medication safety information for pregnant and lactating mothers. The app helps users make informed decisions by offering guidance on both prescription and over-the-counter medications, ensuring safe choices for their health and their baby’s well-being.
Many pregnant and lactating women face confusion when it comes to medication safety. With a lack of accessible, clear information, they may unknowingly make decisions that could negatively impact their health or that of their baby. This issue is further complicated by inconsistent guidance from healthcare providers, as well as the overwhelming amount of medical information available, which is often difficult to navigate. The gap in education around safe medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding poses significant risks, making it crucial to provide reliable resources that empower women to make informed choices.
Only 55% of pregnant women receive adequate information about medication safety (National Library of Medicine, 2023).
60% of pregnant women are uncertain about the safety of over-the-counter medications (Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2023).
80% of women are unaware of the potential risks associated with specific medications (International Journal of Basic & Clinical Pharmacology, 2023).
